Aims and Objectives
The aim of The Zone is to provide high quality care for children in a child orientated setting. The premises are safe, secure and suitable for their purpose. We are able to offer children access to the necessary facilities for a range of activities which promote their development.The development of children’s emotional, physical, social and intellectual capabilities is promoted effectively when they take part in a wide range of activities.
Our friendly staff organise time, space and resources in order to give the children a mix of active times where the children can take part in energetic play and quiet times when they can rest and relax in a quiet area.
Hours of Care
Term Time; 3.00pm – 6.00pm Monday to Friday
Children will be collected from their school by The Zone staff. When the children arrive back at The Zone, they will be offered a light snack and a drink.
Holiday Club; 7.30am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday
Children can be dropped off from 7.30 am and must be collected no later than 6.00pm. Children who arrive at The Zone before 9.00am will be offered breakfast.
Children who attend the Holiday club can choose to have a 2 course lunch freshly prepared on the premises or can bring their own packed lunch.
* At The Zone, children will have access to a wide variety of materials and equipment.
* Children will always be encouraged to join in with activities but will never be forced to take part.
* Activities will be planned for each day, so children will always be occupied.
* Children can explore textures and colours through creative activities.
Following are some of the activities that The Zone children can take part in:
Painting, Gluing, Printing, Junk modelling, Board Games, Small World Play Outings, Cooking, Computing, Construction, Reading, Imaginary Play, Outdoor play, Card Games
Plus much more.
Fees include breakfast and a cold snack tea which is freshly prepared at The Zone. A two course lunch can be ordered during the holiday club, which is also freshly prepared by our cook within the nursery.
Fees are to be paid at least one week in advance or on the child’s first session of each week. A charge of 2.5% will be added to your fees if you are late in paying. We reserve the right to make a charge of £10.00 for each 15 minutes for children who are not collected before the end of their booked session, unless otherwise organised.

Booking a Place
To book a place in advance you are required to pay the registration fee of £10.00 per child. This will guarantee the next available place for your child. Upon application you will be asked to complete an information form and sign the parental contract. The registration fee will be deducted when the first payment is made. If circumstances change the registration fee is non – refundable.
A two week holiday entitlement will be given and is charged at half the normal fee. The Zone operates on a pay for a place basis and refunds / credit can not be given for any other absences including bank holidays.
Top Zone should only be attended by children who are well. We welcome all children with non-infectious conditions. If your child becomes ill whilst in our care we will contact you, and you will be requested to collect them.
Should an illness / accident or emergency occur we will act on behalf of the parent and take the appropriate action necessary.
Medication can be administered by the manager / deputy manager. Please ensure all medication is handed to the manager / deputy manager who will ask you to complete a consent form with details of dosage and times to be administered.
No medication will be administered to your child if you have not signed the consent form.
Period of Notice
If you wish to withdraw your child from The Zone, two weeks notice must be given in writing along with one month’s fees.
At every opportunity staff encourage positive behaviour. The staff are responsible for maintaining behaviour in their room in accordance with our policy’s and procedures. The Zone will never accept any form of physical or emotional punishment to any child, regardless of their behaviour. Staff will assess the challenging behaviour and deal with it accordingly, giving the child an explanation of why their behaviour is not accepted. If the child continues to be disruptive and/ or aggressive towards others then *Team Mate will be the behaviour management strategy used. A staff member will always accompany the child during Team Mate.
Staff will always take the child’s age and development into account when dealing with unwanted behaviour.

It is our duty to report all concerns and allegations to Redcar and Cleveland’s Social Services Department. It is the Staffs main priority to take reasonable action in order to ensure the welfare and safety of the children in their care.
All children receive the same high quality care irrespective of Gender, Race, Religion, Disability or Personal requirements. All children have a right as an individual to dignity and will be treated with respect regardless of circumstance and are given the opportunity to act and think for themselves.
Queries and Complaints
Top Zone operates an open access policy, should you wish to view our policies and procedures, please ask a member of staff who will be happy to present the file and offer you a quiet private area for your reference. Alternatively there is a copy of our policies and procedures on the parent notice board.
All complaints and concerns are taken seriously and must be reported to the Nursery Manager or Deputy Manager who will try to resolve the matter. If your complaint cannot be resolved you can contact OFSTED.
